CANSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship program and is one of the most sought after learn to skate programs. CANSkate was developed by experts to teach the fundamentals of skating in a progressive and sequential manner. Designed for beginners of ALL ages, whatever your goal is...figure skating, hockey, ringette or just skating for fun!

The focus is on fun, fitness and basic skill development. Participants earn ribbons & badges as skills are mastered. Skaters are taught in a group lesson format by a NCCP Certified Professional Coach, supported by trained Program Assistants.

The ABC's of the NEW CANSkate Program

There are three Fundamental Areas called Balance, Control and Agility (the ABCs of skating!)
  • Balance: Skate Forward and forward moving Extreme, Spins & Spirals and Hockey/Ringette skills
  • Control: Stop, Skate Backward and backward moving Extreme, Speed, Spins & Spirals and Hockey/Ringette skills
  • Agility: Turn, Jump and turn and jumping skills from Extreme, Spins & Spirals and Hockey/Ringette skills

 

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Your child’s CanSkate session will include:

  • Warm-up
  • Lesson time - new skill instruction, skill review and practice time
  • Group activities
  • Cool Down

ETIQUETTE

  • Please have your child at the arena on time, dressed and ready to go on the ice at the scheduled session time.
  • Please use the assigned dressing room. Signs are posted on the arena dressing room entries.
  • Parents DO NOT accompany their children on the ice.
